John Davenport (owner / operator)

John was thrown into the captivating world of studio magic while visiting his sister in NYC. Ultimately, that serendipitous visit led into a meaningful life-long career.
He began his journey as assistant-engineer at Chelsea Sound. He then joined the team at Secret Sound before moving on to the iconic Hit Factory.
Among the wealth of engineering credits (Madonna, The Rolling Stones, BJ Thomas, Ronnie Spector, Kenny G. and Michael Bolton), John acted as assistant-engineer on Bruce Springsteen’s renowned record “Born In The USA” as well as John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s “Milk and Honey” and Robert Palmer’s “Riptide”.

John came home to North Carolina and, in 2017, officially opened his own studio on the Deep River Sound.

Intimate, yet vast and cultured; Deep River Sound Studios is a physical manifestation of John’s personality. A lighthearted and empathetic approach to producing gives his artists a chance to explore personal visions while maintaining structure and momentum.
