The Studio

Designed by architect Wes Lachot, Deep River Studios’ primary facility was built utilizing hexagonal geometry in order to primarily feature the equilateral listening triangle. The roughly 1,200 square foot studio has a relaxed, cozy feel to it, complete with a fireplace and minimalist kitchenette. A series of rotating acoustic panels (biffusors) function as indoor shutters as well as a tool for adjusting room acoustics. When flipped to the ‘right’ closed position, the biffusors are diffusive in the upper-mid and high frequencies while absorbing the lower frequencies. Flipped to the ‘left’ closed position, the bifussors absorb all frequencies. When opened 90 degrees, the twenty-foot panel wall reveals a series of windows overlooking the serenely picturesque Deep River and providing the main tracking room with a mixture of acoustic diffusion and absorption. One end of the studio features an isolation booth which can house a full set of drums or the studio’s Kawai grand piano. On the other end off the control room is a smaller isolation booth intended primarily for vocals and amplifiers.

A custom new 32 channel API Legacy console is the centerpiece, with Pro Tools 12 HD and ATC monitors. The studio has great vintage outboard gear and microphones as well as a complete WAVES Majestic plug-in package, Bricasti Dual Reverb system and a Aviom personal headphone system & Audio-Technica MTH-M50 headphones. For analog fans, the studio boasts a 24 track STUDER A-80 multitrack.
